Read: Ephesians 2: 1-10
Reflect: These verses are the foundation of our faith, ladies. They’re a solid and sobering reminder of who we were before Christ. We were DEAD in our trespasses and sin. We were walking according to the world as sons (daughters) of disobedience. But, God….
This week’s chapter has been all about love. We’ve repeatedly talked about the love we have for Jesus. I’ve tried my best to help you see that we can honestly confess if our love for Jesus is lacking. As we pray for more and more love, it can only help to remind ourselves of what Jesus did for us because of love.
Not only did Jesus save us from death. He did it freely and without our help. None of us can boast of our relationship with Jesus, because He is the author and finisher. He initiated and sustains it because of HIS great love for us.
Respond: Write out Ephesians 2: 1-3 in your journal. I recommend you write it in several different translations. Read it over and over until your heart is overwhelmed with gratitude. “But, God, being rich in mercy and because of His great love for you….” Do you see it? Jesus is the ultimate “Knight in shining armor.” He loved you so much that He came to live, die and rise again so that you could have life. That’s a Savior worth loving in a BIG way.
Renew: Ephesians 2:10 says, “we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
The works that we will do (the callings for our lives) were planned long ago. On page 28, Beth said, “The person you are when you love Jesus with everything in you -- with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength -- is the real you. The bring-it you. The breathtaking you. The born-for-this you. The person you were born to be crawls out of the shell of a heart cracked wide-open to the audacious love of Christ.”
Do you want to be that version? Today, let your prayer be your words asking for this kind of love with all that you have.
At the risk of overloading you with the Skit Guys this week, I’m sharing another today. Over the weekend, I went searching for the video that I shared Monday. As the Lord would have it, this next one (a little longer) came up next on YouTube. It so perfectly accompanies our study this week, that I have to share it.
