WE GO: Called by the One who is faithful

“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness…for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:26-28 MSG

We are each His beautiful vessel, called to pour out the light and love of Christ; therefore, WE GO...

Some were launched into life from a stable, loving home. Others of us grew up in families of pain. But even in darkness, God calls.

I was ten when my brother died, setting up circumstances where I received Jesus as my Savior and the call to be a missionary. I wish I could say it was GO from then on.

Abuse and neglect, combined with innate introversion, impaired my ability to act. But God placed individuals at the right time to provide a ray of light along the way. (Often it was a teacher who stood against the darkness.) Still, Fear ran my life.

Second came a gnawing need for love and affirmation, resulting in pregnancy. I got married and worked to “make it right.” Amazingly, in the midst of all my brokenness, the Lord called me to youth groups, teen drug rehab, and music in our church coffeehouse and services. However, after 14 years of incredible emotional and mental abuse, my three girls showing effects of their sadistic, narcissistic father, and too sick to keep food in my body for weeks, I fled.

I had completely failed God. And I was suicidal. God loved me anyway. He pulled me back, amazingly, renewing the call. Eventually, I married a man with a similar call.

Finally, I was able to say, “Yes, I WILL GO!” We served as missionaries in Honduras, on the healing path, but still fear plagued. Nevertheless, God worked in wondrous ways. After eight years we returned to the U.S. for the youngest children’s education.

Receiving so much grace, my deepest desire is to share glimpses of His light and peace. God continues to call, and I GO as I’m able, serving, teaching, writing (GlimpseofPeace.com), or simply loving others along the healing pathway.

I can promise you, He only needs your “Yes,” not your perfection to use you to bring light to others who walk in darkness.

“The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24

“So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word.” Hebrews 10: 22-24 MSG

Further treasures: Matthew 6:33, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 1:9, 1 Corinthians 1:28-29, Ephesians 2:7-10, 1 Timothy 1:12 2 Timothy 1:9

Lord Jesus, Thank you for shaping me in my mother’s womb, for never leaving or forsaking me, and for calling me to GO, not on my merits, but in the power of your Holy, life-giving Spirit. Strengthen us when we are weak, lead us when we are lost, guard us, protect us and speak truth to our hearts. Continue to call us to GO, because we are made in your image, and you are faithful.
