Week 6: The I AM says He WILL Give.
Day 2: He WILL give you work and purpose.
VERSE Psalm 138:8 The Lord WILL accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; do not forsake the work of Your hands.
ears ago, I went to a “paint your own pottery” studio for girls’ night out and selected a utensil caddy as my art project. I was very creative and “fired up” my imagination so I could get my piece of pottery just right. I worked intensely on the design, color, glaze, etc. It was quiet the masterpiece. I knew right away exactly how I was going to use my new creation and unique piece of art. I took it home with much excitement and for a while I used it just as I had intended- to hold silverware when entertaining guests. Today, that masterpiece sits in a cupboard, hidden and forgotten about.
Many times we create something with our hands and we don’t end up using it or maybe sometimes we don’t even know what we would do with it, so we leave it alone, hide it in a closet or even get rid of it. We can be thankful that our creator is not like that at all. He made each of us unique and for a purpose. He creates in us every gift and ability that allows us to be useful and serve others as He intends. We can trust that He will not forsake the work of His own hands. " ‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the LORD, who has compassion on you” (Isaiah 54:10). A sculptor may leave his statue unfinished, an artist his picture, and a poet his epic; but our Almighty God will not forsake the work of His hands.
We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). He created and saved you. He calls you and commands you to serve. He wants to use you, not hide you in a closet or cupboard like a dish that’s never used. He has a purpose for you and it requires you to use the gifts he blessed you with. Are your hands wide open? Are you listening to Him? Are you moving? You have work to do. God has created each one of us uniquely to serve Him. He WILL do it because He said so.

God of Peace,
Help me to remember that You created me on purpose, for a purpose. You GIVE WORK AND PURPOSE and by seeking you, I will find that purpose. Give me the grace and wisdom I need to find how you want to use me every day. From the words of Hebrews 13:21, “May you equip me with everything good in order to do your will. May You work in me, through the power of Jesus Christ, what is pleasing to You. All glory to Christ forever and ever!” Amen.
