Week 5: HE WILL PROTECT/FIGHT

Monday, April 1st: He will fight for you.

Verse: Isaiah 42:13 The Lord will go forth like a warrior, He will arouse His zeal like a man of war. He will utter a shout, yes, He will raise a war cry. He will prevail against His enemies.

Post: I am sitting here reflecting on my life; the choices I've made and the choices others have made which have affected me. So many of my choices have been made without the counsel of the Lord which makes me sad to think about. Those are the ones that have had some of the most devastating outcomes for me. However, the ones I have made with the Lord's counsel haven't always had happy, joyous, and free results either. The fact is, as Amy Cutrer Rogers mentioned in one of her earlier posts, life is not easy . We were never promised it would be. What I have concluded is no matter what choices we make or how we make them, time and time agin the Lord miraculously has turned my lemons into lemonade. He has taken these moments in my life and taught me through them. He has groomed and grown me through the pain of loss , rejection, and despair and given me a new appreciation for this life He so graciously has given me. He has given me gratitude I would not have unless I was allowed to fall flat on my face. He has fought against evil behind the scenes for me. He has righted some of my wrongs and provided protection for me in ways I will never know or understand. He has been there every step of the way right by my side just like a parent with a toddler; allowing consequences, but providing teachable moments while protecting.

Psalm 35: 1-3 Is a great example of David crying out to God to deal with his enemies. He says ," Contend , O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me. Take up shield and buckler; arise and come to my aid. Brandish spear and javelin against those who pursue me. Say to my soul, I am your salvation." This call for justice was spoken from the heart and was sincere; it was not a cover for David's own personal vengeance. He truly wanted to seek God's perfect ideal for his nation. David did not say he would take revenge, but he gave the matter to God. The Lord promises to help the persecuted. He simply IS our salvation. He is the only one who can fight the good fight on our behalf. He is the one who can take those wrong choices we or others have made and can save us from our mess. Our God is a mighty warrior that fights for us and protects us - even when we cannot see it. What a merciful and gracious God He is. He WILL do it because He says so.

Additional verses: Exodus 14:15-31; 2 Chronicles 20:1-25; Psalm 35:1-3; 1 John 3:7-8.

Heavenly Father, We come to You in thanksgiving and praise for the mighty ways you fight for and protect us. Even when we are unaware, You are working behind the scenes on our behalf coming to our aid and guiding us through the storms of life with Your protective hand. Give us a hunger to put on Your protective armor found in Your word. We want to thank you today for the things in our lives that have been challenging . For without those times we wouldn't be able to reflect and see the fruit you have produced in each one of us. We rejoice that You are near as our next breath and in the midst of our messes. Thank You, Father God for being in control of all. Amen.
