The I AM says I am loved!
“For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
I remember when my husband first told me that he loved me. It was December 14, 1988. We were at a party surrounded by people, and he wrote it in my hand. I 🖤 U! My soul was soaring!
Oh, to be loved! It’s what every human being craves above anything else! It doesn’t matter how beautiful, successful, or wealthy you are, without love, life is meaningless. “I Will Always Love You”, “Endless Love”, “How Deep Is Your Love”, “Love Will Keep Us Together”, and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” are just a few off the list of the Top 100 Love Songs of All Time! The total amount of songs written on the subject of love is in excess of 97 million. And just think of all the poems and novels written on the topic.
There’s no doubt about it, the three words we all long to hear are “I love you!” And, oh, how the devil uses our quest for love to defeat us every day. It seems society is continually reminding us that we aren’t good enough to be loved the way we are. We need to strive to be more, do more, and have more so that we can land love! We need to wear the right outfit, spray on the best smelling perfume, display the proper physique, and write the perfect profile to find love.
So, what is this true love we all long for? One might first think of a romantic type of love. The love that is written about in most songs and novels is wonderful, but it is fleeting because it is based on feelings. The type of love that humans truly desire is deeper, is an unconditional love. It’s a dependable love that never leaves you brokenhearted. And it’s exactly the love that you already have! Hear me when I say this...YOU ARE LOVED! The greatest love story ever told was not written by Danielle Steele set in the backdrop of Beverly Hills. The greatest love story ever written was penned by God. It began in Bethlehem and climaxed on a hill on Calvary. This love will never disappoint; it’s an eternal true love. It’s agape love, the highest form of love. It’s a love that is freely given and cannot be earned. Romans 5:8 reminds us that God loved us even while we were yet sinners. You see my friend, love isn’t a feeling; it’s an action verb! And God demonstrated His love for us by taking action. He sent His Son to earth as a sacrifice to guarantee that we spend eternity with Him!
So today, in the midst of the madness and mayhem, sing out loud the lyrics to what is perhaps the greatest love song of all: “Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so…”. Remind yourself of the words from Jeremiah 31:3, “I have loved you with an everlasting love…” and confidently claim, “I am loved…because He said so!”

I praise You today for all that You are; You are the Creator of the Universe, the King of kings and Lord of lords. You are the I AM! I know that You created me on purpose for a purpose. I am who You say I am. The enemy wants to hold me back from living out the calling You have placed on my life. Lord, saturate my mind with the truth of Your Word so that I may remember that my identity is found in You and only You. Remind me throughout the day, when the world comes tumbling in, that You are in control. Reveal Your will in my life as I only want to please You. No matter how difficult my day becomes I will remember that I can do all things through You (Phil 4:13). In Jesus' name. Amen
