I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Isaiah 61: 1-3
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the broken-hearted... to comfort all who mourn, to grant those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
I came to give you comfort, Your afflictions will not go unnoticed by Me. I too was afflicted, so I understand. Be convinced that I am present with you in your trial, and I will hold your hand each step of the way until you reach the other side. In the meantime, hear Me whisper My words of encouragement and peace; let My words of truth bind up your broken heart.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the promise of comfort. In this world, we WILL face troubles. And, you have promised to comfort us right in the middle of them. During the remainder of our Advent season, guide us to come to You with our struggles, our sadness, our sickness, and our pain. Because you sent Jesus, "God with us," we can trust that You will comfort us perfectly. Specifically today, God, I'm asking that You comfort each of my sisters in exactly the way she needs it. Amen.
