Jesus Came to Give Forgiveness

John 1:8-9

If we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and the cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Colossians 1:13-14

For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Psalm 103:12

As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.”

Micah 7:19

He will again have compassion on us, He will tread our sins underfoot. Yes, You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.

My Child,

I came to give forgiveness. The bad news is : you and all mankind have sinned against the one and only Holy God. The good news is : I took care of your sins at the cross so that you could enter into this holiness. I took the wrath that your sins deserve so that you can stand unblemished. Your punishment was poured onto Me so that God’s love could be poured into you. Never, never doubt my forgiveness - I did not die in vain.

Immanuel

Heavenly Father ,

What a price You paid for each one of us ; how can we comprehend this ? “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” ( John 1:9). Because You took the punishment we deserve , this is possible. How desperate we are for the forgiveness You offer! Some days we seem so ungrateful and unworthy of this gift, yet Your giving is unending. How can we thank

You that Your forgiveness is not based on our acts or our attitude of the day? Just as You forgive us in an instant, give us the spirit to forgive others. Today, we want to come to You full of gratitude for loving us the way NO one else can or will. This Christmas season may we celebrate with fresh eyes and renewed hearts of WHO You are and WHY You came. Amen
