Who Is This Jesus and Why Did He Come? Freedom

Luke 4:18

Jesus said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery to the blind, to set free those who are downtrodden.”

Galatians 5:1

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore, keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

John 8: 31-32

Jesus said, “If you abide in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Psalm 142:7

Bring my soul out of prison,

So that I may give thanks to Your name;

The righteous will surround me,

For You will deal bountifully with me.

Romans 6: 6-7, 11

Knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin…. Even so, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Jesus Christ.

My Child,

I came to give you freedom. Do not let the worries of this world entangle you. I am bigger than your problems, and I am stronger than your addictions. Give them to me, so that I can then fill your empty hands and heart with abundant, yet intangible riches; forgiveness, redemption, and the power of My Spirit.

Dear God,

We are so thankful for the freedom we have in You. At the same time, we know that we need You to continue showing us how to fully live in that freedom. Through Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, freedom was granted. It has been done, and it is finished. Teach us how to pick up that freedom and walk in the fulness of LIFE. Point out to us and uncover any and all chains that bind us. Then, give us the courage to freely walk out of that darkness and into Your beautiful light. Amen.
