This week we have focused on our relationship with Christ as compared to a Bride and Bridegroom. Madelaine talked about Him initiating the relationship and stealing our heart, Dayna talked about His incredible pursuit, and Chris focused on His proposal. Today we are going to bring our attention to the "vows". I simply love Isaiah 62:5, “As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you.”

Many get a bit teary eyed during the “vow” portion of a wedding. When we gather to support a friend or family member getting married we almost always hear some version of these words, “I _____ take thee, _____ to be my wedded wife/husband to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, until death do us part.” However, in the United States alone it is said that nearly 50 % of marriages fail. And the reason why is almost always cited as a partner not keeping their vows. In a world where it seems that vows are so easily broken, promises are so readily forgotten, and one’s word is so quickly disregarded, we can rest assured that the vows that God made with us are unbreakable, never forgotten, and always true. This promise is sealed with the sacrificial blood of the Lamb.

God’s vows to us are almost too good to be true, and yet they are ALL true and they will last FOREVER and EVER. His Spirit now lives in us…His love lives IN US! He is 100% faithful and committed to this relationship. He promises to never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5b). All we have to do is accept the gift He so freely gives and trust Him. He’s vowed to love us, forgive us, accept us and welcome us into his eternal family. His love is unconditional. His beautiful vows will always be kept as a sacred reminder that his love never fails. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1

How about you, Sister, are there any other promises in the Bible that you cling to concerning God’s great love for you?

Dear Lord,

Thank you for your love for me. Thank you for the promises that you make to me through your word. When I have been betrayed by a promise from the world, remind me to run into your loving arms. I know that you are never going to leave or forsake me and that YOUR WORD IS TRUE! I praise your name and stand on the promises of God! In Jesus’ name. Amen.
