Picture Scripture -- Mouth (proclaim to proclaim)

Scripture: Psalm 34: 1-3, Acts 8: 25-40; Romans 10: 11-17

As you read, journal any verses or thoughts that speak to you.

Today, I am in Orlando waiting on my sister to arrive with her husband and my new nephew. He is three years old and has recently been adopted from Ecuador. We’ve been waiting to be able to take Julio to Disney since he was 18 months old and my sister received his first picture, because we love Disney World and love experiencing it through the eyes of little children.

For months now, we’ve been talking to Julio about the joys of Disney. We want him to hear about the wonderful things that are there. We want him to wait with a bit of anticipation to see Mickey Mouse’s home and all the fun things to do there. As today got closer and closer, we began talking about it more and more. We don’t feel obligated to share with Julio. We want to, because we can’t help ourselves. We are so excited!

I’m pretty sure you see where I’m going with this very simplistic post. As believers in the One True God and His Son who is the Savior of the world, we have the great joy and responsibility to tell others about what we know. I truly believe that proclaiming His goodness through word and deed is the natural outcome when we’ve come to fully know Jesus Christ. The Psalmist said,

“I will praise the Lord at all times; His praise will always be on my lips. I will boast in the Lord; the humble will hear and be glad. Proclaim Yahweh’s greatness with me; let us exalt His name together.”

The truth is, we were made to praise. When we have a positive experience with something or someone, we really can’t help ourselves. We have to tell! I want everyone to know about my favorite restaurant, a good movie, or a sweet friend that does the kindest things for my family. So, today, let’s do what we love to do. Together, let’s collectively brag on SOMEONE we love by blowing up our social media accounts with testimony of His goodness. You could post a verse, a quote, a picture, or a personal story. But, share with your world a little portion of WHY you love Jesus or HOW He’s changed your life. Romans 10:13 says, “Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Isn’t it humbling to know that someone could be led to call on the Lord because of something they saw on our Facebook page? We serve a big God! Are we willing to tell others about Him?

God, we stand in awe of You! Your goodness is immeasurable, and Your grace seems over the top. In each of our lives, You’ve been personally involved. You have rescued us in times of need. You have provided for us when there seemed to be no way. You’ve healed, redeemed, and restored. I’m asking you to bring some of those instances to mind right now and make us courageous enough to share them with friends and family. I’m so grateful that You choose to be personally involved in my life each and every day. But, I’m convicted by the Truth that I wasn’t meant to keep those encounters to myself. Today, God, we are going to use our social media accounts to brag on You, so I’m asking that You prepare the way. Soften hearts to see what they may not want to see and hear what they’ve never been able to hear. Draw others to You through our posts, please. Thank you for the opportunity to join in Your Gospel work. Amen
