Week 3: House

Picture: House (cornerstone to completion)

Scripture: Isaiah 28:16; Isaiah 54:11-14; 1 Corinthians 3:11-16; 1 Peter 2:4-5. Write any phrases from the selected Bible verses that speak to you.

Post: The cornerstone of a house or building is the main stone that holds the two joining walls together. From this secure place the house is built. Synonyms for the word “cornerstone” are: centerpiece, backbone, mainspring, core, and linchpin. As our verses have pointed out today, our spiritual cornerstone is Jesus Christ. All things must stem from Him; and as we obey His word, we build our lives. Without Him, we crumble.

When I think of the foundation that Dayna Curtis Moseley spoke of yesterday and then the cornerstone that was spoken of today in our verses, the first thing that comes to my mind is how VALUABLE our "house" is! Jesus laid down His life to be our foundation and our cornerstone. There is nothing of higher value on this earth! It's true that our Savior was of humble means as He walked the earth, BUT let's remember, He came from heaven. "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich" (2 Corinthians 8:9). I also love this promise from our heavenly Builder: "I will set your stones in antimony (silvery fire-resistant substance), and your foundations I will lay in sapphires. Moreover, I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of crystal, and your entire wall of precious stones" (Isaiah 54:11-12). Ladies, I think one of Satan's greatest tactics is to lie to us about our worth. What better way to tear us down than for the deceiver to tell us we are insignificant! Let us remember our beauty and our value in the sight of our graceful God as we build our house from cornerstone to completion.

Maybe spend some time today googling these words: antimony, sapphire, ruby, crystal and precious stones. I promise it will be worth your while. Savor His beauty in you. Remember, in Christ, your house is worth more than millions!

Dear Lord God,

How can we ever thank You? Jesus, You gave Your life to become our chief cornerstone. There is no other precious stone like You. You alone are our unshakeable mainstay! You not only gave us Your life, but You also gave us Your words to live by and Your Spirit to help us do so. We want our lives to be built upon Your timeless truths. May we remember our worth, O Lord. Silence the lies of the enemy that tell us we have no value here. Build us up, O God, stone by living stone, so that we will be a lovely and inviting reflection of You. In Your Name. Amen
