Free to Set Free - Day 4

Read: 1 Peter 2:9
Remember: Rebekah Lyons ended our reading with, “You are invaluable to the kingdom of Heaven. God has appointed a specific role only you can play. You are needed and wanted, chosen and set apart, beloved and worthy. You will receive all power and glory when the Spirit comes upon you. You will bear witness to everything Christ did to set you free. This is your calling. You are free. Go. Set others free.”
For those of you who don’t know me personally one of the many hats I wear is a that of life coach. I help people connect the dots between their passion and purpose and reach their fullest potential. I hear stories of all types of callings: build a non-profit, speak to victims of domestic abuse, write a book, etc. But perhaps the thing I hear most is, “I don’t know what I am being called to do…I don’t know my purpose.” I think perhaps that is why I loved it when Rebekah wrote in her book about struggling with her own purpose that she felt God was saying, “What if your purpose is for me to love you?”
Yes, we are indeed called for a purpose and we all have a calling…but isn’t our main purpose to love and be loved by our creator? We were created for relationship with God. Period; Exclamation Mark! Jesus came to set us free from rules and regiment. He came to set us free to be in relationship with our Heavenly Father. If we focus first on our relationship with Him for which we were created, our earthly calling will be much easier to determine. So, ladies, today, if you aren’t sure what your calling and purpose is, just rest in all that you are and all that you were created to be. Rest in relationship with Him and He will reveal your purpose and your next steps toward that purpose.
Rest: Without going a step forward, please write everything 1 Peter 2:9 says that you ARE. Now, write out everything you have been called to do. Ladies, please notice that Peter didn’t say, “you will be.” You ARE a royal priesthood! I AM His possession. This is truth, and it is done. If you’re still wrestling with who you are in Christ, I am praying that your journey doesn’t end today. God will carry it on to completion (Phil. 1:6), but we must cooperate. And, for the rest of our days, let’s proclaim the goodness of a God that calls us out of our darkness and into His glorious light!
Dear Lord,
Thank you for creating us exactly how you wanted us to be; we are your masterpiece. Thank you for making our greatest calling to love and be loved by You. What a good, good father you are! Lord, we pray our journey to complete freedom with you doesn’t end with the close of our week. We pray the stories of freedom we have experienced allow us opportunities to speak in to the lives of others. Thank you for calling us out of the darkness and into Your light! Make us and mold us into the person that will let your light shine for all the world to see. In the holy name of Jesus we pray. Amen.
