Free to Be Brave, Day 4

Thursday, August 16th

Read: Galatians 6: 1-9

Remember: Courage is meant to en-courage others.

Review: My word for the year is “Good”. That word is so simple yet so deep. I have been praying scripture over and giving thanks for our GOOD Father (Psalms 86:5 and 107:1) and how every GOOD gift is from Him (James 1:47). In addition, I have prayed over how I can do GOOD works that would glorify God and am claiming His promise in Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing GOOD, for at the right time we will reap a harvest if we not give up.”

Today’s lesson reinforces God’s calling for us to do GOOD and never give up on encouraging others and helping them through their difficult times or times when they face fear. We can use our own stories and times of courage or bravery to help others get through their time of need. I often share my story of forgiveness with others to encourage them to do something that is difficult and requires courage, along with words and wisdom from God. I trusted God and found that true forgiveness when someone hurts you or those you love is right, good and freeing! Now, I want to encourage others to do the GOOD and right thing, no matter how scared or nervous they may be. Let’s not forget to MOVE. TRUST. BE BRAVE.

Rest: Has God placed someone on your heart that may need encouragement today? Don’t hesitate. Reach out! All of Paul’s letters in the New Testament were meant to encourage others. Transparently, Paul shared his own story of faith in order to build up the body of Christ. Aren’t you glad he didn’t let fear hold him back? In Galatians 6, we see that often we will need courage and boldness even in our relationships with others. Sometimes building someone up means first confronting sin in their life (verse 1) or bearing their burdens in prayer (verse 2). Today, pray for that person God has placed on your heart, because he/she may need to hear an encouraging word for you. Ask Him for wisdom in using the courage He’s built in you to encourage what He’s doing in someone else. Let’s wrap up our time of rest with a prayer for even more courage and perseverance in the journey.

Prayer for Soul Sisters:

Thank you for this day, GOOD, GOOD Father. I pray that you will go before me and beside me and that your Holy Spirit will guide me to the exact person you want your light to shine on through me. I pray for your words and wisdom and that I would use my courage to be encouraging. Let me walk this journey as you intended. Let me be a vessel and never let me grow weary in doing good, no matter how difficult the calling.

I love you and am thankful for every opportunity to serve you.

In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
