Thursday, July 12th
Read: Romans 5: 1-5 (Consider reading this passage in The Message along with your personal version.)
Remember: “Waiting is a critical part of your anointing. It prepares you, strengthens you, equips and trains you to step up when the moment comes.”
Reflect: Remember in the Bible where Daniel prays for people who had been oppressed for seventy years? He didn’t eat or drink for twenty-one days, as he prayed, persisted and pleaded with God. He was doing things and trying to get God’s attention. He got no response. Then, on the twenty-second day an angel of God appeared. He revealed to Daniel that his prayer had indeed been heard on the first day. Daniel couldn’t see with his eyes that anything had been happening. But from a heavenly perspective God was at work. Praise the Lord Daniel didn’t quit praying and trusting in God.
There is actually something happening when nothing is happening. We can’t give up on prayer, lose faith or walk away. God is at work while we are waiting. He is using that time to change us and equip us for His purpose. And perhaps, as Marcia pointed out on Day 1 of this week, God may be waiting on us to be changed and let go of something before we go on to the next chapter in our lives.
Rest: Relax in the reading of these words from page 128 of “You Are Free.” Consider reading them as if Jesus is speaking them over you,
“I am working on your behalf even now. In the tension, I hold you. In the waiting, I walk with you. In the not-yet, I carry you. Rest here, in green pastures, by streams of living water. In this place of utter safety and comfort. Let me shelter you with the wing of my mighty hand.”
Prayer for Soul Sisters:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to you with praise and thanksgiving even when we’re in the midst of waiting. We know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience can in turn keep us alert for whatever You plan to do next.
We confess that sometimes we may get anxious when we are waiting on something and we don’t see you at work, making things happen. We ask that when we are obedient and abide in you that we will be reassured that all kinds of things are happening that we can’t see. You are holding us, walking the journey with us, keeping us safe, and so much more. In your perfect timing, the desires of our hearts will begin to manifest and bondages will fall off. Prosperity, favor, promotion, honor, and all kinds of good things will come out in the open where they can be seen. All will be done for your glory!
