FREE TO BEGIN AGAIN (Day 3)

Read: Galatians 3:15-29

Remember: "In Christ's family there can be no division into Jew and non-Jew, slave and free, male and female. Among us you are all equal. That is, we are all in a common relationship with Jesus Christ. Also, since you are Christ's family, then you are Abraham's famous 'descendant,' heirs according to the covenant promises." Galatians 3: 28-29

Reflect: There is a natural inclination for us to gravitate towards those people who are similar to us and to feel uncomfortable around those who differ from us. When we allow our differences to separate us from our fellow believers, we are disregarding clear Biblical teaching. We are to make a point to seek out and appreciate those who are not just like us. As a friend has said to me before , we are more similar than we are different. The passage above is a sobering reminder of this and great for me to reflect on. I don't know about you but it's so easy for me to get in my little bubble and surround myself with those like myself. It's rather freeing to be reminded not to live in my little box of rules and open my eyes to others out there!

Salvation is a gift from God and we cannot earn righteousness through works or good behavior. Paul pointed this out to the Galatians. The Galatians were "beginning again" under new direction. Although their freedom was a new beginning,  they continued being tempted to going back to that old, confining way of life. Today, on the fourth, let's be encouraged to fully embrace the freedom provided through Abraham's seed. Remember: True freedom comes from the gospel, not from legalism.

Rest: Whether you are in a season of new beginning or if you've been experiencing Christ's freedom for years, the fourth of July is a good time to sit and reflect on your freedom in Him. Be creative in expressing gratitude for freedom, seek for ways to boldly chase even more of His gift of freedom.

Heavenly Father, Sometimes we take for granted the freedoms we have. Thank You, Dear Jesus for the freedom to be in this group, online and on land openly reading ,writing, praying , and worshiping You anytime day or night. Let today mark a new beginning for those of us that need it. Help us to understand that the freedom You have to offer us begins with our surrender. Today may we have new eyes and be aware like never before of those freedoms we celebrate . Amen.
